After 90 years, a beloved actor has passed away.
Famous for roles in The Bodyguard, Night at the Museum, and New Jack City, he left an indelible mark on the movie industry. His brother, Thomas G. Cobbs, who is also a pastor, confirmed the sad news on Facebook: “Bill died peacefully at his home in California on June 25.”
He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his loved ones, who he cared about deeply. He was a devoted partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather, and friend.
“We are all comforted by the thought that he has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time.”
His niece, Bethany Cobbs, shared a heartwarming picture of him with his family earlier this month to celebrate his birthday. With a smile on his face, the star sat down in a soft brown chair.
Fans sent well wishes to the actor’s family on X, formerly known as Twitter. One fan said, “Never knew his name, he was in EVERYTHING, RIP.” Another person said, “Mr. Bill Cobbs was a gentleman, an absolute legend, and a man of great talent. TV, movies, and the stage will never be the same without him. May he rest in peace and power forever.” Another tribute read, “Thank you Mr. Bill Cobbs for following your dreams and sharing your gifts.” A fourth admirer remarked, “What an amazing actor.” Another noted, “It’s crazy how many movies Bill Cobbs was in! His voice was great. I will miss him very much.”
